The Fabric of Ashford; The Place That Makes us 2022
The Fabric of Ashford is a community art project that has taken place throughout the summer all over Ashford.
The event started back in June when we invited members of the public to share their stories of Ashford and take photos. These photos were then printed onto fabric, each one having a special meaning to the photographer. We then embellished these images with fabric pens and embroidery.
It has been a great privilege to be involved with this project and extremely rewarding to offer free creative workshops to many different community groups. These groups include working with a group of refugees from Ukraine and Syria, young adults in sheltered accommodation and Age UK.
We’re very excited to reveal the collective final piece of work we’ve all been working on together. Join us this Saturday 20th August between 10am - 4pm to see our wonderful ‘Ashford Tapestry’ that will be shown at the bandstand in the middle of the town centre.
The finale event will include;
