Ashford’s Carnival of Baubles Lantern SEN viewing Preview & Meet the artist sessions
New for 2024 we have introduced a special session where you book to view some of the completed lanterns before they go out into the procession. This is held at our makers space in the lower level of County Square.
These sessions are aimed at people that cant make the parade for various reasons and for those with additional needs who would rather view the lanterns in a calmer setting.
We have an open meet the artist session for the general public to come to view the lanterns from 11.30 to 12.15 (drop in) and then 3 SEN specific slots later on in the day with reduced numbers of 16 people per slot.
The slots will be 45 mins long where you can meet 2 of the bauble artists to ask them any questions and be given a little tour of the willow sculptural lanterns.
We will have the main lights dimmed and lantern lights on so you can experience the magic of the illuminated lanterns without coming to the parade.
There will be a small number of headphones that can be borrowed at the sessions as well as some sensory toys & fidgets for those that wish to use them.
Join us at the workshop venue at your chosen time slot which is the same as last year on the lower level of County Square Shopping Centre (the former toy store on the lower level by Debenhams).
For those coming to the parade please note this year the carnival route will be reversed! It will start from the Lower High Street (mustering on East Hill), moving through Ashford High Street and Bank Street, then ending in Elwick Place where there will be a big finale!

Carnival of the Baubles is an event brought to the town by Ashford Borough Council, Love Ashford, Emergency Exit Arts and Craftship Enterprise CIC (Made in Ashford).
