Ashford’s Carnival of Baubles Lantern Workshops.

Join the team to make and decorate your own lantern from willow, tape, tissue paper & PVA glue. Then, we’ll keep it safe to dry out so it’s ready for the big procession on Saturday 23rd Nov where you can come and collect it from us and hold your very own lantern in the parade.

This year, due to demand, we have introduced a paid element to the sessions. If we sell enough paid sessions then we hope to be able to add another day of lantern workshops so more people can be involved.

This year the carnival route will be reversed! It will start from the Lower High Street (mustering on East Hill), moving through Ashford High Street and Bank Street, then ending in Elwick Place where there will be a big finale!

The workshop venue is the same as last year in County Square Shopping Centre (the former toy store on the lower level by Debenhams).

These sessions are a max of 16 participants and last approximately 1hr 30. We will hold x4 sessions a day and there are x3 Saturdays of sessions! These will be released at a staggered time frame to help more people gain places on the workshops.

If you are a large group or club and wish to make a whole session booking please contact us separately. These sessions are for families and individuals only.

This session is aimed at 5 years+ and grown-ups are very welcome to make a lantern too, so don't forget to book yourself a place! Parents/guardians of children are required to stay in the unit while the session is taking place.

We will be using willow, tissue paper, scissors, masking tape, pva glue and sugar paper.

Carnival of the Baubles is an event brought to the town by Ashford Borough Council, Love Ashford, Emergency Exit Arts and Craftship Enterprise CIC (Made in Ashford).
